My Thoughts, Her Words

Like many of you, thoughts and emotions have been swirling around in my head since our elections this week. While I take time to sort it out before I post anything, head over to The Preacher's Wife to read her post titled, "It's What We Do With Disappointment". She's honest with a fresh perspective, and gets us back on track. Enjoy and I'll talk to you soon!

  1. Thank you for sharing the pastor's wife blog. There were 2 comments I agree with, especially the one from anonymous. It seems to me that sometimes people's blogs, or opinions - are very judgemental and I thought that only God did that. Because I don't agree with most of mainstream "christians" on President Obama, does that make me less of a Christian????

  2. Anonymous,

I think it's important that we not go around anonymously making harsh judgments. Tha'ts what bothered me the most about "anonymous" on the other blog. No accountability. It just doesn't seem right for someone to sneak into a blog, blast them (or their ideas) and have no accountability for it.

I don't believe you are any less a Christian than any that don't agree with Obama. Do you love Jesus with your entire being? Do you believe that He died on the cross to save you? That's what makes you a Christian.

But as Christians, we need to be seeking Him in ALL things. When it comes to voting for someone, we should be taking the things THEY say and looking to God's word to see what He says. Did you do that? I think too many Christians went more off of emotion. I would have loved to vote for Obama because he really drew me in with his eloquence, charm, and calm. But that's not what I'm called to do. I am no longer my own.

I could go on and on, but don't want to bore you. So in closing, I think it's important to remember that we (Christians who don't necessarily agree with Obama's policies, etc.) are only going by what came out of his own mouth. These are HIS policies that HE has made very public over the last two years. How else are we to come to a decision as to whom to vote for unless we take in what they've said? Didn't you listen to both sides and make a decision on what you did or didn't agree with? Were you being judgmental when you did that...in some kind of horrible negative way? Just because Obama won doesn't mean the reasoning that was used in coming up with my decision has changed.

What has changed is that now I have the privilege of praying for my new president and will wait to see what the future holds. I hope this makes sense and pray that you have a blessed day.
