Airport Entertainment

The airport still holds great allure for my kids. So they were thrilled at the chance to go pick Dad up at the airport on his return from a business trip.  He was due in on a late flight so we started the adventure with a trip to the Cheesecake Factory!

We arrived at the airport about an hour before the flight was due which gave us plenty of time for people watching.  Due to the late hour, it was a bit quiet, but still fun.  We still miss going to the gate to watch our party walk off the plane, but waiting outside the all-gate exit is better than nothing.  Where else can you see such a variety of people from all over the world in such a short period of time?!

So come on out and visit us and we'll be happy to pick you up at the airport.  No doubt, you are worth the $6 in parking.  :)

Not Just Christmas Lights

I have been so blessed by my kids' desire to tackle the project of hanging the outside Christmas lights.  Last year, my oldest did them all on his own.  This year, it was a collaborative effort, from getting the lights out of storage, checking them, replacing bulbs, and finally hanging them.  They have let the true Light shine and I am so pleased.

Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry Syrup. I've heard of its powerful properties for quite some time. While lying flat on back and fed up with this cold, I decided to finally check it out. Aw, YouTube. It looked easy enough and I had the ingredients on hand, but didn't get the gumption until about 10:30p.m. to finally mix up a batch.

The kids, recently sequestered to bed, began calling out, "What's that smell?!". I suppose it may have had a funny smell, but my smeller wasn't in working order. I finished steeping it, added the honey and took a dose, several throughout the night, actually. I think it is rather yummy. Never listen to a kid when it comes to something that will help them feel better. It's all bad to them.

Give it a try yourself! (click on the link above to watch the video) Take 1 tablespoon daily for good health or 1 tablespoon every hour while sick.

Friends and Skating

Friday was filled with fun and friends. The kids and I are certainly getting hooked on ice skating. But it's even more fun when you have great friends along. All the kids range from 9 to 13. It's amazing how each family is different. There are several sets of kids that are the same ages, but you sure can't tell by looking! It's pure joy to see such a large group of kids playing and laughing together. And oh, how it touches a mother's heart to see them help the sweet little ones who took nasty tumbles.

It was such a blessed day that even a three hour ride home in ugly traffic with three kids and two dogs couldn't steal the joy away.

Out on the Town

Though I'm not the greatest photographer, they're still the best looking kids out on the town tonight. A dear friend treated them to a local church production of "A Christmas Carol". They were so excited to get dudded up and even ironed their own clothes! I love seeing how their styles are shaping and I must say that so far I'm very pleased.

They've just arrived home (shortly after 11:00 p.m.) and are bouncing off the walls with excitement. What a blessing. Time to scurry them off to bed and then myself.
