Snow, Snow, Snow

Yipppeee! We had two or three inches of snow yesterday. Just enough to make some snowmen. The trees were covered with an exceptionally light and fluffy frosting. It's nearly gone today. Dear God, can we have more? :)

Match Maker, Match Maker

For those of you who aren't familiar with "The Fiddler on the Roof", the title of my post is one of the songs from the movie. A must see! The Match Maker was the village widow who had the "gift" of match making. The village relied on her to tell them who would marry whom.

Anyway, we had the honor of attending the wedding of this beautiful couple (see picture below) last weekend. It was a wonderful wedding with the ceremony truly being centered in Christ. He alone is The True Match Maker.
At the reception, I was most touched by the offering of thanks given by the bride to her parents and aunt who really helped pull it all together. There is no doubt that the mother-of-the-bride and her sisters have a tremendous gift of "doing weddings". Everything from the planning and organizing right down to the cake and homemade mints! Yum-O! Well, I can't leave out the pure sweetness of a weeping little girl dancing with her daddy. Thanks for making me cry! :)

So, I ask that you would all join me in lifting up this couple in prayer. Pray that they will submit their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ on a continual basis, that they would rely upon Him for their strength and guidance, and always seeking to esteem the other higher than themselves.

To Sheila and Logan, may God bless you in your marriage and may you see your need for Jesus in every moment.

Happy Harmonica?

While enjoying lunch at a Mexican recently, we (the family) were discussing different cultures, holidays, etc. I wish I could remember what had been said previously, but my youngest, Cutter, blurts out, "Oh yeah! The Happy Harmonica one!", all too proud of himself because he'd got it! Didn't even bat an eyelash...that is until the roar of laughter that proceded rang clear in his ears. It is a moment I care to enjoy forever. It sounded so sane when he said it, but the reality of those words and what was truly said hit us all at once.. Of course, he was referring to Hanukkah. With his face a shade redder than Elizabeth Arden's door, he realized what he had said and joined the chorus. To our Mexican friends at Mazatlan, thank you for your hospitality and sparing us the embarrassment of being thrown out. To my Jewish brethren, I'm sorry, but it will forever more be "Happy Harmonica!" to our family. Even in this small incident, the Lord revealed Himself. These moments may seem fleeting, but the love we have for each other, by the love He gives us, holds through eternity.

Resolutions

Don't you just love all the hope that a new year brings?! It's so incredibly representative of our Savior's love for us and how He makes us new creatures. But then there's that dreaded word, "resolutions", that seems to suck all hope out of the new year springing forth. Of course, we all know why it has this effect. How many of us have set "resolutions" only to be disappointed when we caved or fell short.

I think where many of us go awry is in not asking the Lord to guide us, seeking Him for what His heart's desire is for us. The world is full of great ideas and good intentions, but we can quickly become overwhelmed when we take on too much, things that maybe the Lord isn't ready for us to work on.

So here we go! Redeem resolutions! After all, it only means to resolve to do something. As Christians, our hearts should be to resolve to do the Lord's will. Go to Him in prayer and be prepared to bring forth fruit in this New Year and ultimately into Eternity!

Since I think accountability is important, thus one of the reasons for starting this blog, I figured I would list some of the things I feel the Lord is drawing me to "resolve" to do in 2008!

1. Hospitality

2. Accountability and building relationships

3. Stepping out in boldness

4. Organizing my thoughts and time

I'd love to hear your so we can keep each other accountable! Blessings to you in 2008 and into eterinity.

New Adventure

Okay,

Well, it's midnight and I'm just setting us this blog. No one, but hubby, even knows it exists. It's kind of a scary thing....posting for the world to see, but I've been a lurker long enough so I'm taking the plunge.

Be patient, there is a huge learning curve here!
