Resolutions

Don't you just love all the hope that a new year brings?! It's so incredibly representative of our Savior's love for us and how He makes us new creatures. But then there's that dreaded word, "resolutions", that seems to suck all hope out of the new year springing forth. Of course, we all know why it has this effect. How many of us have set "resolutions" only to be disappointed when we caved or fell short.

I think where many of us go awry is in not asking the Lord to guide us, seeking Him for what His heart's desire is for us. The world is full of great ideas and good intentions, but we can quickly become overwhelmed when we take on too much, things that maybe the Lord isn't ready for us to work on.

So here we go! Redeem resolutions! After all, it only means to resolve to do something. As Christians, our hearts should be to resolve to do the Lord's will. Go to Him in prayer and be prepared to bring forth fruit in this New Year and ultimately into Eternity!

Since I think accountability is important, thus one of the reasons for starting this blog, I figured I would list some of the things I feel the Lord is drawing me to "resolve" to do in 2008!

1. Hospitality

2. Accountability and building relationships

3. Stepping out in boldness

4. Organizing my thoughts and time

I'd love to hear your so we can keep each other accountable! Blessings to you in 2008 and into eterinity.

Love,

  1. This is kinda cool, Sonja. I've never done any kind of blogging myself unless you consider posting a desperate plea on Focus on the Family's website for help with my crazy kids!

I don't usually make new years resolutions either as each day seems to blend into the next and before I realize it, New Years Day was almost two weeks ago and I hadn't put much thought into it. I guess if I had to make a resolution it would be what I feel the Lord has put on my heart also. And that's to teach my children kindness toward one another. The first fruit of this was Donovan coming home from church last Sunday and asking to go onto the computer to print out a verse. Much to my delighted surprise it was the verse 1st Corinthians 13: 4-8 about love being patient, kind, etc. and then posting it in his bedroom. I agree that it is only with the Lords prompting and guidance that they work, anyway. So hat's off to you for starting this blog and asking for accountability. I hope I can be accountable as well. God bless you and all who read this.

  4. This is fun! I can completely relate about siblings being kind to one another. Seems to be a hard one to learn, especially when they follow in my footsteps! I actually received encouragement from a veteran homeschooling mom with lots of adult kids that are walking with the Lord. This family has travelled around for speaking engagements at various churches and homeschool conferences, etc. She stressed that what we experience between siblings is not uncommon, not okay, but not uncommon. I found comfort in that. She just encouraged me to pray everyday for them and with them regarding their relationship with one another.

    Love ya!

  7. Hello, Sonja, it is good to hear from you. Imagine running into each other at Cabellas now here you are again.

Can't wait to see what this new year brings you. Myself I do not make resolutions, I just go where He is leading me. (and try not to fight His path too much. But it is intersting to hear His laugh, when you try things your own way...) Blessings to you
